PARK MANAGEMENT SYSYEM: THE NIGHTMARE OF NOISY NEIGHBOUR| DEJI OLA
I tried so hard not to comment on NURTW related issues due to it's unnecessary politicking.
I deem it fit to conserve my energy for better thing which will directly or indirectly have positive influence on the people of the Pace setter State. It took me so long to realize that the afforementioned sector is critical to peace and unity of the state as many have the notion that those in charge are Agents of violence and anarchy. This assertion is also wrong though. We have scores of NURTW members who are peace loving and will never deviate from their core values even in the face of oppression as experienced in the past administration.
After weeks of silence on this issue, the ever reliable and efficient Oyo State Governor- Engr. Seyi Makinde unveiled the new policy called Park Management System (PMS) which really attracted my attention and dragged me out of my embroidered shell. I have come to realize that my avoidance to comment on the issue was a wrong decision.
Apparently, most of my followers are really anticipating for my position on the decision of the Government to involve former NURTW Chairman in person of Alhaji Mukaila Auxiliary in the current PMS structure. This I will restrain my self from because our Governor has the sole right to engage whoever he believes can compliment his team productively. Some people said his appointment as Disciplinary Committee Chairman is just to compensate his ardent loyalty to GSM while others said it was due to his experience in the said sector. Whatever school of thought you belong, the ultimate goal is that Engr. Seyi Makinde will never jeopardize the safety of lives and properties of the indigent people in Oyo State and notably, he has his name to protect.
Without any form of digression from the main premise of this article, I will like to give a special accolade to this Government for taking this giant stride so as to increase our IGR through this special initiative.
I took my time to check through the frame work and it's feasibility and I concluded that very soon, the Internally Generated Revenue of the state will definitely skyrocket to the desired level while we continue to maintain our stance as the Pace Setting State in the Nation. It's also pertinent to state that Government should play an oversight functions to ensure that nobody deviate from the set templates.
However, can we do away from Noisy neighbourhood? For we are in human institution, when you live, work or leading a set of people, no matter how lenient or democratic, there is always the possibility you will have to deal with noise.
As a leader managing people everyday, It can be an issue from the start of your dispensation or can occur years down the line. Dealing with noisy neighborhood requires a balance of diplomacy, direction, which evidently GSM has put in place all the required strategies.
When I watched the video of some factional leaders of NURTW in Oyo state, I initially lost my temper that this is nothing but an eyesore. Their action was taken too far, and you will agree with me that when lives and properties are at stake, serious caution need to be taken. But what baffles me was GSM's approach to the issue and I can comfortably conclude that they are mare Noisy Neighbours. After their empty threats, I can now boldly confirm the words of Kathleen McFarland, "Empty threats are often worse than saying nothing at all. It's like leading from behind. Eventually, no one thinks you're leading at all. And after a while no one is even listening"
Little wonder, the same thing was experienced with the opposition party in the state, they decided to close their eyes on the productivity that this new initiative will bring to the state and chooses to embrace mere politicking. Should we start reminding them that, politics has gone, it's time for real governance? It is hard to belief that they are still suffering from defeat infested Syndrome. My sincere advise is that they should humble themselves and join the moving train of progress for the advancement of our dear state.
Conclusively, the Engr. Seyi Makinde I know meant well for all and sundry; he will never deviate from all his campaign promises. He needs our prayer, cooperation and constructive criticism.
